URMIAcares - Onsite & Virtual Options
Feedback form is now closed.
URMIA has a tradition of including a community service project (or three) as part of the conference to give back to the host community. It’s a win-win endeavor as nonprofits in the community benefit and conference attendees have fun and an opportunity to network with fellow risk managers and insurance professionals.
For the 2022 conference, URMIA has chosen three agencies with three different areas of foci. Pick one that speaks to you or support all three.

ONSITE ASSEMBLY, Sunday, September 11 @ 12:30-3:30pm - join us when you can in JW Grand Ballroom 3-4
We will support Horizon House, a nonprofit supporting those in central Indiana experiencing homelessness with integrated, comprehensive services so they can secure and maintain housing. URMIA will be assembling snack packs to share with Horizon House guests.

Want to help Horizon House more? The agency provides a safe space and basic needs and assists those who are homeless with navigating barriers as they take steps toward a more stable life. You can help by giving directly to Horizon House either through their online donation option or through their Amazon wish list.

BRING SOCKS. The HallieStrong Foundation is a small, central Indiana nonprofit whose goal is to outfit the feet of every cancer patient with warm and fun socks they need (and deserve!) for treatment. HallieStrong was launched in 2018 in memory of Hallie Hope who was born at 19 weeks and while she was too tiny to take on this world, she left behind a legacy of hope that carried her parents through a fight with rare cancer. URMIA’s goal is to raise $450 to cover one month’s worth of shipping costs of socks to cancer patients.

ONSITE ACTIVITY, Sunday, September 11 @ 1:30-3:30pm at Nevermore-Union Station
Additionally, we will do a Duckpin Bowling fundraising event at at Nevermore-Union Station for Indiana Youth Group which creates safer spaces to foster community and provides programming that empowers LGBTQ+ youth and magnifies their voices. As of September 2020, Indiana was home to 43,000 LGBTQ+ youth ages 13 to 17. You can also help these youth by giving at the conference or through IYG’s Amazon Wish List for items that are currently needed. Sign up here for Duckpin Bowling.

Participate Even If You Won’t Be in Indianapolis!
If you won’t be in Indy for the URMIAcares service project, you can still participate! We are currently seeking sock donations, contributions via an Amazon List, or financial donations in advance of the conference.

+ Support Horizon House with items from their Wish List which includes Amazon and shipping information.
+ Send socks or donate funds online to HallieStrong Foundation to underwrite the mailing costs of socks to cancer patients. Note in the “additional information” field URMIAcares.
+ Support transgender youth with items from the Indiana Youth Group (IYG) Amazon Wish List which includes Amazon and shipping information or make a financial donation to support IYG’s charitable work. Indicate “General Fund” and “URMIAcares” in the note field on the online form.
