Did you know that Indianapolis is the Racing Capital of the World, home to the NCAA Headquarters, and has hosted more than 400 national and international sporting events over the past 30 years, including the final rounds of March Madness, Olympic trials, and a Super Bowl—all thanks to an ambitious plan developed in the 1970s?

The scope of athletic risk is large, as most URMIA members know - from student-athlete medical care including concussions to alumni and boosters to Title IX gender issues to club sports and intramural programs, and the list goes on. URMIA's programming committee invited Dr. Mark A. Emmert, the current NCAA president to share his thoughts on the value of risk management, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, the changing landscape in athletics, Name Image Likeness (NIL) perspective, and any legislative updates.
