The World Turned Upside Down: Managing the Risk of Dramatic Legal Change
Feedback form is now closed.
Universities face risks from dramatic changes in the law. A judicial, executive, or legislative decision can force an institution to dramatically alter its policies and/or impose the possibility of legal liability for existing practices. Examples of dramatic legal change include the Supreme Court’s upcoming decision in the racial preference cases, decisions by the US President or state governors regarding vaccines or masking, and acts by legislatures.

Objectives:
+ Understand the importance of anticipating and planning for possible dramatic legal change
+ Understand the importance of utilizing a multidisciplinary approach to managing the risk of dramatic legal change
+ Recognize how an institution can adapt to dramatic legal change while maintaining its values and mission
+ Discover the importance of developing alternative approaches to anticipated dramatic legal change
